This is why I pivoted to solo gaming. Game night falling apart means Spirit Island at 11pm in my underwear.
Always have a 2-player backup ready. Expecting 4-5 people to reliably show up after age 30 is a fantasy.
Overinvite. If you need 4, invite 7. If everyone shows up, break into two groups.
I'm the no-show friend and I feel personally attacked. In my defense, I have a toddler.
We use a Discord bot that tracks RSVPs and gives people a flake score. Is it harsh? Yes. Has attendance improved? Dramatically.
A flake score bot is the most genius or most unhinged thing I've ever heard. Setting it up immediately.
