Pax Pamir 2E: impenetrable but absolutely worth the struggle

First play: confusion. What am I doing. Why did that person win.

Second play: oh. OH. The loyalty switching. The dominance checks. The emergent narrative.

Third play: this might be a masterpiece.

Not for everyone. But for the right group? Transcendent.

Cole Wehrle makes games for people who want to FEEL something at the table. Pax Pamir made me feel like a conniving political operative.

The cloth map and resin pieces are gorgeous. Form AND function.

Bounced off it twice. Third game it clicked. The shifting loyalties mechanic makes betrayal feel inevitable and justified.

My brain hurts just reading this thread. I'll stick with Concordia.

Best 45-90 minute game that feels like it should take 3 hours.
