Rules Mistakes You Played With for YEARS

I’ll go first. We played Pandemic for over a year — probably 30+ games — without realizing you draw infection cards AFTER your actions, not before. The game was nearly impossible.

Then someone actually reads the rulebook and goes “wait… you guys have been doing WHAT?”

What’s your most embarrassing long-running rules mistake?

We played Catan for two years giving people resources when the robber was on their hex. The robber did nothing. No wonder everyone loved Catan.

Root. We didn't realize the Marquise only places one wood per turn. She was building at triple speed for months.

Played Scythe for a year before someone pointed out you can't repeat the same column. We were doing whatever we wanted. Anarchy.

Wingspan. We were letting people place birds without paying food in the first column. Free birds. Engine building on steroids.

A friend played TI4 for three sessions without knowing about strategy card secondary abilities. Painful.

These are all incredible. I feel seen. Also terrified about what rules I'm currently getting wrong.
