The The Castles of Burgundy vs Gaia Project Debate — Settled?

These two games get compared constantly and I think the debate misses the point. The Castles of Burgundy is about mastering a system. Gaia Project is about mastering people.

Both are incredible. But comparing them is like comparing chess to poker. Different skills, different rewards, different dopamine.

I keep both in my collection and they scratch entirely different itches. Where do you land?

I slightly prefer The Castles of Burgundy because the skill expression is higher. Every game I feel like I'm learning something new.

Gaia Project for me. The player interaction gives it infinite replayability. Systems you can "solve" eventually.

Bold of you to assume I have time to master either. I'm just trying to remember the rules between plays.

Both are in my top 10 but gun to my head? The Castles of Burgundy. The puzzle is just so satisfying.

The real answer: whichever one your group will actually play. Mine refuses The Castles of Burgundy due to teach time so Gaia Project wins by default.
